Problem

Confluence comes default with the “Confluence Home” page as the system home page, listing all the spaces

When we went live, we changed it to default to the IT Apps home page

Which changed it to look like this:

Jim has received tickets from DSYS and others in Platforms because now THEY see the Apps home page as their home page too! While annoying for them, this is hugely inappropriate for the rest of UNM to be seeing our home page when they log in, and a pretty bad user experience for them to see a ‘you don’t have privs to see this page' every single time they log in.

Solution

The “Confluence Home” space cannot be edited but the Confluence space (CON) can, so let’s use that and make a reasonable landing page for all to use.

By default the page looks like this:

We want to add information and direction to the page. Note that this page will be visible by multiple groups of people:

  1. Authenticated users who have Confluence permissions

  2. Authenticated users who do not have Confluence permissions and just followed a link from somewhere

  3. Unauthenticated users who have no NetID and no business seeing any of our content

Suggest that there be sections or information on the page that orients each of those groups to where they need to go next.
